Big news Monday

As of Thursday, September 30th 2010, I am no longer an employee on Doom Island.

Layoffs happened throughout our company and I was part of them. Don’t start to feel bad for me just yet though, I am sure that this is going to be a good thing for many, many reasons.

1. Doom Island provided me a paycheck, great benefits, and a lot of great people - many of whom turned into close friends. Even with all of that good stuff it was not a healthy environment for me and putting that chapter of my life behind feels good. Really good. I received a severance package that is allowing me some time to find a job that makes me happy and where I can grow within the company.

2. I love new beginnings, and the fact that something unknown is around the corner is exciting and is breathing new life into me.

3. I am looking at this as a gift from my company/the universe. I am basically getting paid to spend each day finding my dream job, and it is something I am taking pretty seriously. I still have a job to do (a much more exciting one) and that is to improve my life by finding work that fulfills me.

4. I am going to use this time to cook healthy food for me and Kevin and get our diets in order. More fiber, leafy greens, vegetables, and healthy recipes. I also plan on hitting the gym every single day and burning my sister’s p90x that I now have the time to do.

5. While I am at home applying for jobs, I am setting a TV rule for myself. The fun, useless Bravo TV shows will still be saved for “after work”, and if I do turn the TV or radio on it will be MPR or the news. I have always wished I knew more about our government and economy, and I am going to use this extra time to learn the ins and outs.

I was given a great opportunity here and I plan to make the most of it. I am going to enjoy every minute and I’m not going to let anything get me down, because things happen for a reason and I am sure that nothing but goodness can come from this situation. With this layoff I have removed all the negative energy from my life and I am planning to keep it that way :)
