Why would Rihanna, a victim of domestic violence, sing on a track with Eminem as he talks about hitting a woman and tying her to a bed and setting the house on fire? This song glorifies domestic abuse and is hugely disappointing to me that Rihanna would participate.

The producer of Eminem’s video counters criticism stating that the video and song are merely shedding light on an issue that many young people are going through.

In that case, why would Rihanna sing about loving the bad parts of her relationship. Calling this a mixed signal to send to teenagers in abusive relationships is a best case scenario for the song. Teen girls usually do confuse jealousy and violence with love, why contribute to that?

In my opinion, shame on Rihanna for lending her voice to this track. She does not need to make herself a platform for domestic violence after what happened between her and Chris Brown, but to promote a song that glorifies it is irresponsible.

I get that this is Eminem’s “thing”, he raps about killing his ex wife and abusing women, but we made him #1 on the charts for it. Domestic violence is serious, it’s sad, and it is scary. It is not the stuff of #1 songs.
